Event Title: ISRAEL - A LIGHT UNTO THE NATIONS
Speaker: Wan Lai Meng
Date: 21 July 2016
Time: 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Venue: ALBY OFFICE #04-32
Fee: $10 ($5 redeemable voucher for purchases)
Wan believes Israel’s resurrection in 1948, and the return of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in 1967 sets the final stage for Jesus’ return. The world represented by the United Nations refuses to acknowledge Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and seek to divide up Israel to appease an ancient enemy both of Jews and Christians, Israel and the Church: Satan.
There are several questions that Wan will answer in this talk:
- When did God create Israel?
- Why did God create Israel?
- Can we equate the “Israel of God” with the Church? (Gal. 6:16)
- What is the role of the “Israel of God” in the New Testament?
- Why did Jesus choose Paul in addition to the 12 apostles?
- When did “Israel” become “Palestine”?
It is common for Christians to claim that they are not into Replacement theology. Unfortunately, they will not speak on or about Israel in modernity or even from the Old Testament. Nor do they make any connection of the Church’s strong linkage to Israel. It is time to wake up!
ABOUT WAN LAI MENG
Born and educated in Singapore the author moved to Perth, Australia with his family in 1998. He holds a Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Singapore (1972); Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Asia Theological Centre for Evangelism and Mission (1993); and a Master of Arts (with honours) from Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (1999). For nearly thirty years he held executive positions in several multi-national companies, the last of which was as the director and head of a U.S logistics operation in Singapore. He became a born-again Christian in 1986, and served in various capacities in the church in Singapore. After taking up seminary studies to improve his understanding of the Bible and to minister more effectively in his church, he decided to exit the business world to focus more intensely on the study of God's Word, the Bible, in 1997. Now ministering in small groups he is involved in preaching and teaching in both Singapore and Perth, Australia.
He has spent the last ten years in an intensive study of the Bible and has developed a great love for Israel and the Jewish people. Out of which led him to writing the book ISRAEL A LIGHT UNTO THE NATIONS to illuminate the Church's understanding of Israel and to support and pray for her. His interest now is mainly focused on the Bible - teaching and sharing the truth of the Bible and Israel - as well as reading and playing the occasional game of golf.
