When God asked Elijah, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:9b) he complained to God of his ministry. God again showed Elijah His power outside the cave, this time with a gentle voice after the drama (v.13b), and yet, Elijah was still wallowing in his disappointment while God had other ideas.
The amazing records of godly men and women in the Bible is a testimony of God’s hand on each one of their lives that has part to play in the divine purposes of God for all mankind (Heb. 11:39-40). None of them was as complete and perfect as what we think God would want, and if one would find fault there are many to pick on. All of them had some flaws and contradictions, and not the same in every one, but a different thing in nearly all of them; but there was one thing that stood out, that God was looking for to have Himself committed to. There was this essence in man that God could put in place into His purpose, and that He can find in the heart of man for Himself (Heb. 11:13).

About ARTHUR PHUA
Arthur was actively involved in the prison ministry and taught an intensive Bible class in various prisons island-wide from 1994 to 2008. He is the Senior Pastor of Open Hand Christian Fellowship.
Pastor Arthur Phua holds a Bachelor of Theology and Masters in Counseling degrees. He is married to Valarie and has a daughter, Abigail. He ran his own business before entering into the ministry. Together with his wife, they have been in the ministry since 1980. They together with 8 others were pioneers in outreach and a church was birthed in Tampines.
Pastor Arthur’s passion is to see believers “crossover” to understand God’s heart for His children. He also wants to prepare God's people for His Second Coming through the understanding of Eschatology (study of the end times).
