Come and discover the remarkable story of a man whom history remembers as the "Apostle of Prayer." Sent to India in 1892, his ministry spanned just twenty years until his early death in 1912, yet his life left an indelible mark on missions and the global church. His devotion to intercession, his unshakable faith, and his sacrificial service among the people of India revealed a model of prayer and mission that continues to inspire believers more than a century later.
As we reflect on his journey, we find lessons that speak directly into our SG60 moment. This is the year of the Breath of God. Just as he embraced his calling to carry the gospel to the nations through both prayer and action, we too are called to rise into our Antioch destiny—a church that sends, prays, and goes forth with the Breath of God. In this year marked by renewal and empowerment, his testimony challenges us to deepen our life of prayer, to persevere in faith against every obstacle, and to recognize that ordinary lives become extraordinary when surrendered to God’s mission.
The life and ministry of this "Apostle of Prayer" remind us that the advance of God’s kingdom is not by human strength alone, but by prayer-filled dependence on the Spirit. His example compels us to carry this same mantle today, that Singapore may continue to fulfill her prophetic destiny as an Antioch for Asia and beyond.
