The term “OCD” has been used to describe persons who like to be neat and tidy.  But in reality, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is much more than being clean and organised. It is a condition with unique features, causes, and treatments, different from Obsessive- Compulsive Personality Disorder, or impulsive control disorder such as kleptomania and hair- pulling disorder.

In this talk we will shine the spotlight on the group of disorders characterised by control, impulses and compulsions, clarify misconceptions, learn how these conditions affect daily functioning and explore treatments that will help alleviate them.

A spiritual perspective will be introduced. By clarifying the difference between the need to be “in control” and being controlled by thoughts and impulses, we can adopt a compassionate approach, reduce stigma and support those who struggle.
