This talk is an exposition of Revelation 12 examining the three main actors: the Woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, wearing a crown of twelve stars; the Child within her womb; & the Dragon.
Wan will teach on the principle of interpreting this passage within the book of Revelation. He will demonstrate that Revelation in general, and chapter 12 in particular is not difficult. But it does require a firm command of the Old Testament plus taking God at His Word using a plain literal, historical, grammatical approach avoiding spiritualising, or allegorising
Various identities have been ascribed to the "Woman" such as the Church, Mary, and the nation of Israel. The Bible clearly has one answer and it's found in the Old Testament. There's no "ifs and buts" here. The "Woman" is clearly in the throes of birth pang as she is heavily pregnant. But why does her description involve the sun, moon, & stars as her attire? Who's she pregnant with? While the most obvious answer is the child to be born is none other than our Lord Jesus at His incarnation, could there be an alternative possibility? Then we have the "Great Fiery Red Dragon" with seven heads, ten horns, wearing seven crowns. How do we understand all these?
Finally, we are given insight into the heavenly war at this stage when the Archangel Michael wars against the "Dragon" and his minions, a third of the wicked fallen angelic host (Daniel 12:1 records this event in the OT). Why now? The Bible says these wicked ones are cast out of heaven to the earth followed by rejoicing in heaven but woe to earth dwellers. The "Dragon" goes after the "Woman" after the "Man-Child" is taken up to heaven, but now she has wings to flee to a certain place to hide with the Lord protecting her for a time, times, and half a time.
What a fascinating chapter!
As we look at current events in the world, the hatred against Israel and Jews in the diaspora, can we make a connection? How fast are we heading into the events described?
