The concept of personal finance conjures different images in the minds of different individuals. To one, it is all about investing. To another, it is about which insurance policies to acquire. To a third, something else.
Christian financial stewardship comprises more than these.
With every aspect of life at least indirectly associated with money, it is an essential life skill every Christian should be equipped with – especially in the face of disruptions brought about by technological advancement and governmental policies.
Good financial stewardship aligns with God’s commands and enables us to bless our families, church and society. It frees us to pursue meaningful endeavours – serving God, spending time with our family, and engaging with social concerns. Through our contributions, whether financially, in kind or through our efforts, we are able to play our part in fulfilling our calling as salt and light of the world.
Like many other skills in life, financial stewardship is a set of skills to be learned. Building on the firm foundation of Scripture, we will present a practical Christian approach to personal finance.
About the Speaker
Hobart is the author of The Financial Machine. He is the father of 3 beautiful children, a Certified Financial Planner who has worked with married couples from different walks of life, and has over 10 years of private investing experience.
In his book, he offers a unique approach to personal finance by integrating its various disciplines, presenting it from a Christian perspective. He has spoken on the topic of financial stewardship in several church settings. Prior to his marriage to his wife Eunice, he served as a church council member in his previous church. To further his understanding of Scripture, he took classes in a seminary.
Hobart was deeply impacted by stories of the financial hardships faced by his friends and loved ones, and has observed the positive and negative impacts that good or bad financial stewardship can bring about. He believes that financial wellness is an important foundation to living life to the full, and that positive change can be brought about through equipping the Body of Christ in the area of financial stewardship.
