'Times of the Gentiles' is mentioned only once in the Bible by Jesus in Luke 21:21-24 at the Olivet Discourse:
"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."
The 'times of the Gentiles' is the period of time from the Babylonian conquest of Judah, destruction of Jerusalem & Solomon's Temple (606-586 B.C) to the Second Coming of Jesus during which Gentiles have dominance over Jerusalem. One may ask, "Doesn't Israel control Jerusalem since 1967"? Therefore, isn't the "times of the Gentiles" fulfilled? The short answer is "No." It will be fully answered in this talk.
The term, 'times of the Gentiles' must be differentiated from'fullness of the Gentile' which is mentioned by Paul to the Church in Rome: For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. (Romans 11:25) The former term refers to Gentiles' dominance over Jerusalem, while the latter, the completion of the Church Age. Paul linked both events & implied that Israel's present blindness in rejecting their Messiah will end once the "fullness of Gentiles has come in." James alluded to the same in Acts 15 at the Jerusalem Council quoting Amos 9:11-12.
World events today appear to be converging towards the end of the "times of the Gentiles." Does that mean the 'fullness of the Gentiles' or the rapture of the Church is even closer?
Jesus will accomplish both: 1) bringing His Bride home (John 14:1-3); 2) bring about the termination of the "times of the Gentiles" when He returns & ushers in His Kingdom on Earth. Israel will be restored as the chief of the nations during the Millennial reign. Jesus gave signs prior to His return: "as it was in the "days of Noah" (Matt.24:37; Luke 17:26) & "days of Lot" (Luke 17:28). Are we there yet?
Israel is God's time-clock pointing both to "the "fullness of the Gentiles" & an end to the "times of the Gentiles. What's the "Clock" reading?
